When you use the MVS UUIDGEN function in SAS® on the mainframe, you might encounter a problem in which multiple identical globally unique identifiers (GUIDs) are generated. A pseudo-random number generator creates the GUIDs, using the time-of-day clock value as the seed to generate numbers. This generator might create numerous identical GUIDS when you start multiple SAS sessions simultaneously, because their seeds can have the same value.
